Eventide Elixir
Lengthening shadows bid
a meeting at eventide
a gathering of fellows,
comrades in the battle
who know your toil
and identify with your pain.
There under cover of moonlight
we will wash your feet
then sort through stories
while picking out annoyances
and putting souls in order
as intimacy drops her veil.
In this bond of brotherhood
burdens borne too long
find release in Love’s eternal spring
flowing before time
to this moment’s appointment
for your restoration.
Note: This photo and accompanying poem is dedicated the women in our weekly Bible study and to all those everywhere who gather with friends in love to support them.
“By this all men will know that you are My disciples, if you have love for one another.”
John 13:35
Beautiful poem and also especially beautiful photo
Thank you. There are so many beautiful things in life to experience. Nature photography and the fellowship of friends are two of my favorites.
This is so touching! I love the photo of the white birds gathering together and then your poem about your women friends gathering together to be there for eachother at your study. True friendship is such a beautiful and rare thing (as beautiful as these birds!). I know you ladies mean the world to eachother. Thanks for sharing!!!
Thank you, Lynn. We weren’t meant to go through this life alone. We really need to give and share the love of true friendship. It’s a gift from God.
What a beautiful spirit you possess Joy….and what a beautiful post. Thank you for sharing yourself with the world. 🙂
love the reflection:-)
Me, too. This was taken in a parking lot at dusk.
Thank you.
