Tickled Pink
Roseate Spoonbills as seen through a child’s eyes.
Look Mommy, a pink bird
Gliding on princess wings.
Of its name I have not heard;
See what beauty it brings.
There! On that branch are two,
Each with a shiny bald head.
Just look at the nose they grew—
Do you think they are wed?
Oh Mommy, his red eye sees me.
When God made those creatures
I think He giggled with glee
After adding such funny features.
I’ve never seen one fly nor in such vivid color. Outstanding work, Karen.
Roseates are beautiful birds. No wonder they were sought after for their lovely pink feathers.
thanks for the poem:)
